BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The Parks Commission has been in discussion regarding potential uses for the area to be turned
back to the City by the MPCA at the close of the landfill remediation project. During the course of
these discussions it was suggested that a survey might be utilized for the purpose of gaining the
interest level / need of various recreational improvements / amenities. Long-time commission
members have since recollected that a survey was done in 2007 as a part of the development of
the City’s Comprehensive Parks and Recreation Plan that was adopted in 2008. Results of that
survey are attached as well as samples of other surveys that have conducted by other cities.
The Parks Commission is being asked to discuss and consider what type of needs assessment or
survey, if any, might be utilized for gaining input from the community regarding the interest level /
need for various recreational improvements / amenities within the City.
