OUTDOOR SAND VOLLEYBALL CONSTRUCTION COST ESTIMATES
Two possible approaches:
1. The “right” way- - start fresh and reconstruct one or two “fully engineered” courts. Proper
drainage is critical in volleyball court construction. To do a project “right”, soils would be
tested, plans and specification developed and the project completed by a qualified contractor.
2. Improve the existing court by increasing its size and installing new poles, padding and net.
Court would not be engineered, but Asst. City Engineer would provide some limited direction
to the Public Works staff.
Engineering: $3-5,000.00 – Proper drainage is critical in volleyball construction. Soil conditions would
be determined and the site should be excavated and graded to ensure that water runs to swales on the
sides of the courts where it can drain.
Sand and gravel: – $4,000-$5,000 per court for about 15 loads of washed masonry sand (12” depth)
and $1,500 for drain tile and washed gravel to serve as a base.
Timbers: $500 for one court and $850 for two courts
Poles, nets and pads: $1,700.00
TOTAL ESTIMATED MATERIAL COST: $8,700.00. PER COURT. Engineering and labor additional
