ITEM: Trail Guide Plan review and update

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The Park Commission’s recent annual work plans have identified trail development as a very high
priority. To date, the Commission has prioritized base trails within proposed the proposed trail
system and identified the Village / Stillwater High School base trail as their highest priority. To
date, City Staff has made some progress identifying probable ROW and land acquisition needs
throughout the system.
At the December meeting, the Commission requested that staff complete a feasibility study for
trail improvements along Demontreville Trail. In response, Carol Kriegler will provide a rebrief of
the engineering report made to the Parks Commission in August of ’09 and Public Hearing
conducted by the City Council on the issue in the fall of ’09. She will also provide a brief
engineering update on the Demontreville Trail reconstruction project.
In addition, a rough cost estimate will be available for the Village to High School base trail. The
estimate should be considered useful only for budgeting purposes. The budget is based on the
suggested unit pricing as outlined in the Trail Guide Plan.
Carol Kriegler will provide an update on staff / engineering activity related to the identification of
possible trail segments to be considered for implementation this year.
