Hi Alyssa,
EMWREP would like to host a “Clean Water” Geocache trail this summer with caches located at
some of the various clean water projects that the Washington Conservation District and the
Watersheds have helped to install in recent years. Before we can move forward in planning we need
permission to place a cache at the site of the project.
We would like to place a cache specifically at the prairie restoration at Sunfish Lake Park, not sure of
the exact location (I will have to go out there once the snow melts a bit) but am open to
suggestions. It would also be awesome if perhaps the week you feature Sunfish Lake Park in the
“Lake Elmo Fresh” you could also introduce the clean water trail? It should be ready to go in late
March if everything goes as planned.
Our plan is to present the coordinates for each cache and host the PDF with the information on our
website. We will use a Nalgene water bottle as the container and place inside a geocache log book,
pencil, short description of the clean water project, and some sort of “prize” such as a sticker or
zipper pull with a conservation message on it. Also for the first so many people (we haven’t decided
yet) who find all 8 (the last one will be at the WCD) will be able to stop in for a prize.
I realize this might have to move on the parks commission for approval, but I think it might aid in the
goal of raising park awareness!
