Mr. Zuleger,
Good morning. Thank you for coming out Friday morning and meeting with a few of us to clarify the
placement of some of the future development in the City of Lake Elmo, As discussed, we need to improve
on our future communications with our HOA membership and the City Park issue has proven this to
definitely be the case. We have restarted those internal conversations.
First and foremost, we want to thank the neighbors who have put in an extreme amount of time and effort
into working with the various groups and Park Board to move this City Park forward. We believe their
effort will still be instrumental in making this City Park the best it can be.
Over the weekend, I discussed the City Park individually with each of the Sanctuary Board members. I
explained to the Board the expectations the plat of the Goethschel property will be completed in the next
month or two, the location of the new development and the possible road access and parking this may
allow our new City Park.
Two messages became clear from those discussions:
1) Does this mean instead of a park late fall we may have to wait until next year for the Park. I
answered I believe so. And their response was along the lines of we waited 8 years, what is
difference if we lose out on another 6 months if the City Park can be developed in such a way to
meet all neighbors expectations. If this means we have to wait two to three years, our answer
would change.
2) If we are right sizing this City Park, does this mean we can get some green field space to host
neighborhood ball games (kick ball, baseball, softball, soccer, etc...)? I of course had no answer
for this, but explained I would iterate this potential park addition in my email.
Unfortunately, time did not permit me to send out a mass email to all homeowners and receive feedback
from all constituents.
I received unanimous support from each Sanctuary HOA Board member to have me confirm to Mr. Zuleger
our recommendation is to have the City move forward with item #4 as listed below:
4. Delay the installation of the playground until the subdivision to the south east (Goethschel) is
platted that provides for a larger park space that may include parking.
