ITEM: Wildflower Concept Park Plan
SUBMITTED BY: Emily Becker, City Planner
REVIEWED BY: Stephen Wensman, Planning Director
SUMMARY:
Wildflower Park is a total of 0.75 acres, comprised of land dedicated from the Village Preserve and
Wildflower developments. The land to the west of the park will include Outlot C and D, open space
areas within the Village Preserve Plat.
The developers want this park developed with the development of the subdivision. This is not typical,
as the City normally directs parks dedication monies according to the overall priority needs of the
parks system.
COMPREHENSIVE PARK PLAN:
The Comprehensive Parks Plan identifies neighborhood proposed parks search areas. Wildflower
Park satisfies the need for a neighborhood park within this search area. The Neighborhood Park
Standard indicates a neighborhood park should be 3-10 acres. Although the park is small, it is
adjacent to open land and within a more urban development. Key facilities recommended in the
comprehensive plan for neighborhood parks include passive parkland including picnic/sitting areas
and active parkland including playground, and a multi-purpose playing field or court, both of which
are included in the Wildflower Park Concept Plan.
