DATE: May 16, 2016
REGULAR
ITEM #: 8
MOTION
AGENDA ITEM: Tapestry HOA Trails
SUBMITTED BY: Kristina Handt, City Administrator
BACKGROUND:
Brian Coady, President of the Tapestry HOA, indicated that a former city administrator had approached
him about having the City take over some trails in the development. I don’t know the history of the
City’s interest so staff is seeking direction from the Commission.
ISSUE BEFORE COMMISSION:
Is the Commission interested in having the City obtain ownership of the trails in Tapestry? If so, which
ones?
PROPOSAL DETAILS/ANALYSIS:
Included in your packet is a map of the trails in Tapestry. Does the Commission see any value in taking
over those trails? Do they fit into a long range plan for trail connectivity?
There could be value in the trails which connect to Sunfish Lake Park. The commission should be
cautious though in accepting any trails that don’t fit into a larger connectivity plan given that so many
developments have trails.
Once staff has a clearer understanding of the commission’s interest, continued discussions can occur with
the HOA representative regarding other issues, such as maintenance level of the trails.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Ongoing trail maintenance costs including supplies and staff time.
OPTIONS:
1) Indicate the commission is not interested in any Tapestry HOA trails
2) Identify which Tapestry HOA trails the commission would be interested in having the City obtain
