ITEM: Approve a Reciprocal Fire Service Agreement with Capitol City Regional
Firefighters

PURPOSE. The city council is being asked to approve an agreement with Capitol City
Regional Firefighters for mutual aid. This is the same mutual aid agreement that was
approved by the city council in the fall of 2006 and that has been approved on a bi-
annual basis. The agreement is coming to the city council because it has two revisions.
These are:
1. To reduce some of the routine bureaucracy, it no longer has an expiration date
every two years; thereby, eliminating the necessity of getting all organizations to
approve it bi-annually.
The agreement will be reviewed on a regular basis to determine if it needs to be
amended. If so, these amendments would return to the organizations for
approval.
2. The agreement reflects the consolidation under one Association name rather than
two. The Capitol City Mutual Aid Association name has been eliminated.
Suggested motion for consideration:
Approve the Reciprocal Fire Service Agreement with Capitol City Regional Firefighters.
