Jerry Filla, City Attorney _________________________________________________________________________
PURPOSE The city council is being asked to receive an update on the upcoming posting of new parking restrictions in the Tri – Lakes area. The city will be posting some new “No Boat Trailer
Parking” signs in some new areas as well as adding “Tow Away Zone” signs to no parking areas
(attachment 1 – map). This activity will get underway in late April and early May prior to the fishing openers. An ordinance was approved to permit the posting and enforcement of these sign in
September, 2006. (attachment 2). The purpose of these signs is to maintain safety along these
roadways and to manage the amount of boat traffic that occurs on the tri – lakes of Lake Jane, DeMontreville and Olson. To protect the quality of these waterways, the Department of Natural
Resources (DNR) limits the access to residents along the lakes as well as to 23 boat trailers and 7
cars at the two landings. (10 boat trailers at Lake Jane and 13 boat trailers and 7 cars at Lake
Demontreville – confirming this number).
