ITEM: Adopt ground rules and meeting process for city council business
SUBMITTED BY: Mayor and Council members
SUMMARY AND ACTION REQUESTED: The city council is being asked to officially adopt ground rules and meeting procedures that were agreed upon at the workshop on June 13, 007 that was dedicated
to a discussion on “How We Do Our Public Business”. The purpose of these actions is to have
respectful, efficient and effective city council meetings. These ground rules and meeting procedures
do not have to codified in city ordinance but can be used as the city council’s guidelines and operating
procedures. These ground rules and procedures will be posted in the city council meeting room.
SUGGESTED MOTION FOR CONSIDERATION:
Move approval of Resolution no. 2007-043 defining ground rules and operating procedures for city
council meetings.
SUGGESTED ORDER OF BUSINESS:
• Introduction/Report Mayor
• Questions from the council Mayor and Council members
• Questions from the public, if any Mayor facilitates
(3 minutes maximum)
• Call for a motion to move the item along Mayor
• Discussion Mayor and Council members
• Action City Council
