ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL: Should the City Council approve Change Order No. 1 for the 2018 Street
Improvements?
BACKGROUND: Valley Paving, Inc. was awarded a construction contract on May 15, 2018 to complete
the 2018 Street Improvements project. Construction is in progress.
PROPOSAL DETAILS/ANALYSIS: Valley Paving, Inc., has submitted a change order to revise the
substantial completion date from September 21, 2018 to October 12, 2018 and revise the final completion
date from October 26, 2018 to November 9, 2018. The extended contract completion period provides
twenty-one (21) additional working days due to work delays caused by saturated soils during and following
rain events.
FISCAL IMPACT: None. This change order does not change the contract amount.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff is recommending that the City Council approve, as part of the Consent
Agenda, Change Order No. 1 for the 2018 Street Improvements. If removed from the consent agenda, the
recommended motion for the action is as follows:
“Move to approve Change Order No. 1 for the 2018 Street Improvement Project, thereby revising the
substantial completion date from September 21, 2018 to October 12, 2018 and revising the final
completion date from October 26, 2018 to November 9, 2018”.
