PROCLAMATION
Recognizing Hagberg’s Country Market for their Sustainable and
Environmentally-Friendly Practices
WHEREAS the City of Lake Elmo’s environmental committee has nominated Hagberg’s
Country Market for recognition of their sustainable business practices for the betterment of the
community; and
WHEREAS Hagberg’s Country Market uses only not-bleached butcher paper
biodegradable sandwich containers, and compostable soup containers; and
WHEREAS Hagberg’s has selected and installed all “doored” or closed refrigeration and
freezer display cases that increase energy efficiency and enhance integrity of product; and
WHEREAS they have upgraded lighting to energy-efficient LED lighting; and
WHEREAS in support of local producers practicing humane, responsible and sustainable
methods, Hagberg’s locally sources from MRS Pork of Glencoe Minnesota, Revier Cattle
Company of Olivia Minnesota, and St. Croix Valley Produce, distributing for the western
Wisconsin Amish communities free range eggs and various seasonal produce; and
WHEREAS Hagberg’s minimizes food waste and creates efficiencies by integrating retail
cutting operations with sausage making and onsite kitchen prepared foods; and
WHEREAS Hagberg’s focuses on service at the meat counter over pre-packaged orders
to further cut down on waste.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Lake Elmo does herby
proclaim recognition for Hagberg’s Country Market and their efforts to participate in sustainable
and environmentally-friendly business practices.
