BACKGROUND:
In the past, the Council has designated members as liaisons to a couple of groups. First, there has been a
school liaison to attend city school leadership meetings, events or work collaboratively with the schools on
issues. The meetings are held on an as needed basis with the exception of the Mahtomedi School District
which holds meetings four times a year during the school year.
Second, the Lease Agreement regarding the Sally Manzara Nature Center at Sunfish Lake Park provides a
position on their Board of Directors for a city representative. The Board meets monthly on the third
Wednesday at 7pm. They also have a strategic plan meeting scheduled for Saturday, January 26th.
ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL:
Which council members should be appointed liaisons for 2019?
PROPOSAL/OPTIONS:
The Mayor or any member of the council can be appointed liaison to either group.
Council Member Bloyer has been appointed the school liaison in previous years.
Council Member Nelson has served as the city representative to the Sally Manzara Nature Center Board of
Directors.
RECOMMENDATION:
“Motion to appoint __________________ as the school liaison.”
“Motion to appoint _________________ as the city representative to the Sally Manzara nature Center
Board of Directors.”
