ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL: Review month end activity update from fire department. Advise on
any additional information requested.
PROPOSAL DETAILS/ANALYSIS:
We had calls in August:
7 Cancelled en route
30 Medicals
3 Car accidents with injuries
3 Fire Alarms
1 Power Line Down
1 Propane tank leak
45 Total
A Command vehicle did not respond on 19 calls for a response rate of 57%. Our average
response time was 10.2 minutes from alarm to arrival. 23 calls had 3 or less responders minus
the Duty Officer with 1 calls having only 1 personnel on the first due apparatus. 16 calls this
month had only shift personnel for responders.
Drills for the Month:
#1 - Annual Ability Test
#2 - Quartery SCBA and work with potential new packs
Points of Interest:
- There was a noticeable drop in single personnel on first due apparatus in September.
Unfortunately there was a noticeable increase in response time for September too.
This was primarily due to a high number of calls at the far corners of our city.
- The Rescue Engine is in the final building stages and we expect to take delivery very
soon.
- Engine 1 was out of service several times in September due to multiple mechanical
issues that have been resolved.
Part Timer Accomplishments:
- Continued working on hydrant paddle replacement and GIS labeling.
- Cleaning and general maintenance at both stations.
- Practical drills as assigned during shifts.
- Training on assisting with fire inspections.
- Vehicle and equipment inspections.
- Assisted with Burn Permit applications.
- Prep E2 and U2 for sale in preparation for the new Rescue and downsizing of the fleet.
- Assited with training on and conducting commercial inspection and the follow up data
entry.
