AGENDA ITEM: Finance Committee Appointment

BACKGROUND:
Consistent with past practice, staff is presenting a Finance Committee applicant for Council consideration.
Council recently changed the makeup of the committee to include three voting members and two alternates
in light of the committee going for two years with only 3 members most of the time.
ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL:
Who should the Council appoint to the Finance Committee?
PROPOSAL:
Council members were emailed a copy of the application materials from Eric Athman. Staff would
recommend appointing him as an alternate to the Finance Committee. Given the history of difficulties in
finding members for this committee and ensuring a quorum, staff supports keeping the current make up for
the time being. Adding another voting member would increase the quorum requirement. Mr. Athman is
aware of staff’s recommendation to make him an alternate. As an alternate he is still able to attend all
meetings and participate in all discussions.

OPTIONS:
1) Appoint Eric Athman to the Finance Committee as an alternate member
2) Do not make any appointments to the Finance Committee
RECOMMENDATION:
“Motion to appoint Eric Athman to the Finance Committee as an alternate.”
