AGENDA ITEM: Promotion of 2 Probationary POC (Paid on Call) Firefighters, Doug Lovett
and Mike Schwarz to Firefighter Status.

BACKGROUND:
Both Probationary Firefighters have meet all requirements has defined in the Fire Department Hiring
Process along with additional response and training requirements.
ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL:
Should the Council promote Doug Lovett and Mike Schwarz to POC Firefighter’s?
PROPOSAL DETAILS/ANALYSIS:
Staff is recommending the Council promote both Probationary Firefighters.
Probationary POC Firefighters, Doug Lovett and Mike Schwarz have successfully completed the
requirements of Probation as follows: State Certified Firefighter I & II, State Certified Haz Mat
Operations, First Responder and CPR. Approximately 200 hours of training. All the while maintaining
their response requirements of Duty Crews, All Calls and Training.
FISCAL IMPACT:
Future costs of training, uniforms and wages.
OPTIONS:
1) Promote both to Firefighter Status.
2) Do not promote.
RECOMMENDATION:
Motion to promote Probationary POC Firefighters, Doug Lovett and Mike Schwarz to Firefighter
status.

FIREFIGHTER HELMETS AND BADGES. THEY WILL THEN TAKE THE FIREFIGHTER
