AGENDA ITEM: Approve Massage Therapy License

BACKGROUND: The City of Lake Elmo instituted a city license structure in December of 2012
in order to better regulate the practice of therapeutic massage in Lake Elmo. Licenses are subject
to approval by the City Council.
ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL:
Should Council approve the requested license?
PROPOSAL: The City has received a Massage Therapy Premises License application from Emily
Murray for a new license to perform massage therapy at 8519 Eagle Point Blvd., Suite 110 in the
Kary Chiropractic Office. The appropriate fees have been paid and all required documentation
has been provided, including training and insurance information. Washington County Sheriff’s
Department is conducting a background check.
FISCAL IMPACT:
License application fee of $100.
OPTIONS:
1) Approve license
2) Deny license
RECOMMENDATION:
If removed from Consent Agenda:
“Motion to approve massage therapy license for Emily Murray”
