ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL: Should the City Council approve Change Order No. 1 for Test Well #5?
BACKGROUND: Traut Companies was awarded a construction contract on July 2, 2019 to complete the
Test Well No. 5. The City and Contractor met at Tana Ridge Park to identify the best location for both the
permanent well and temporary test well.
PROPOSAL DETAILS/ANALYSIS: Traut Companies and City staff have prepared a change order to
address changes in the scope of work to include tree removal for access to the site and to remove PFAS
testing that will be completed directly by the State of Minnesota.
FISCAL IMPACT: This change order will result in a net decrease for the contract in the amount of
$180.00. There is an increase of $460 for tree removal and a decrease of $640 for PFAS testing costs. With
this change order, the project remains within the authorized project budget and contingencies.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff is recommending that the City Council approve, as part of the Consent
Agenda, Change Order No. 1 for Test Well No. 5. If removed from the consent agenda, the recommended
motion for the action is as follows:
“Move to approve Change Order No. 1 for Test Well No. 5, thereby decreasing the contract amount by
$180.00”.
