ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL: Should the City Council approve Change Order No. 3 for the Stonegate
Addition Street and Utility Improvements?
BACKGROUND: A-1 Excavating, Inc. was awarded a construction contract on May 5, 2020 to complete
the Stonegate Addition Street & Utility Improvements. Work remains in progress with a substantial
completion date of September 25, 2020 and final completion date of November 13, 2020.
PROPOSAL DETAILS/ANALYSIS: A-1 Excavating, Inc. has requested an extension to the contract
times to meet substantial completion for the improvements. Staff has reviewed this request and is
recommending that the request be approved to extend the contract times for substantial completion by an
additional 8 days; 3 days for rain delays when work was unable to proceed, and 5 days due to delays in the
shipment of materials due to COVID 19. Staff has subsequently prepared Change Order No. 3
to revise the substantial completion date from September 25, 2020 to October 3, 2020. The final completion
date will remain unchanged.
FISCAL IMPACT: There is change in the contract amount as part of this change order.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff is recommending that the City Council approve, as part of the Consent
Agenda, Change Order No. 3 for the Stonegate Addition Street & Utility Improvements. If removed from
the consent agenda, the recommended motion for the action is as follows:
“Move to approve Change Order No. 3 for the Stonegate Addition Street & Utility Improvements,
thereby revising the substantial completion date from September 25, 2020 to October 3, 2020”.
