AGENDA ITEM: Parks Commission Appointment
SUBMITTED BY: Kristina Handt, City Administrator
BACKGROUND:
The Parks Commission is established to review and make recommendations to the Council on the future
development of city parks, including the establishment of and improvements to the parks, and to make
recommendations to the Council on policies governing the maintenance and public use of the parks within
the city. The Parks Commission shall consist of 7 members. The voting members shall be appointed by
the City Council for a 3-year term.
The terms of Mike Zeno, John Ames, and Isak Nightingale expired 12/31/19. All were three year terms.
At the January 7th meeting the Council reappointed John Ames leaving two vacancies on the commission.
ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL:
Who should the Council appoint to the Parks Commission?
PROPOSAL:
Since the last appointment, the city has received Isak Nightingale’s application for reappointment. Given
that Nightingale has only served one partial term, he is eligible for reappointment to the Parks
Commission
RECOMMENDATION:
If removed from the consent agenda:
“Move to appoint Isak Nightingales to the Parks Commission for a term ending 12/31/22”
