Tom Bouthilet, Finance Director
SUMMARY AND ACTION REQUESTED: The city council is being asked to authorize the use of $13,500 to purchase a new terminal server out of the previously council authorized $17,687.70 for the purchase of PCs. The city council previously approved funds to replace one of the two servers. It became apparent that the second server also needed to be replaced. This new server was a higher priority than new PCs, whose purchase can wait until the system is running smoothly. The proposal for the new server, which was installed by PTN, was reviewed by an independent party at no cost to the city and found to be reasonable. The administrator redirected the funds to deal with some compelling IT needs. The funds are budgeted in the city hall facilities capital projects fund, which is funded through the 2004A bond issue for public works and city hall facilities. The staff will return with a request for licensing fees for software and additional IT equipment in the future. The 2004A bond issue will provide this source of funding also. Motion:
Move to redirect $13,500 of the $ 17,687.70 previously approved for PCs to the purchase and
installation by PTN Computers for a new terminal server to replace the old citrix server.
