SUMMARY AND ACTION REQUESTED: The city council is being asked to approve a resolution approving an agreement for the implementation of the Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Grant that the city previously authorized as the fiscal agent. This agreement makes the city the responsible party for the project and the funds of $20,000 designed to plan safe routes to Lake Elmo Elementary School for now and the future. Sandy Cullen, a registered engineer and a PTA member, is managing the project. The next step is to hire a consultant to work on the SRTS plan. The plan will complement and go beyond the work that was done by a school safety group made up of county, state, city and school officials. A report and some action items will be on the February 4, 2008 city council agenda. MOTION FOR CONSIDERATION
Move resolution 2008- 008 entering into an agreement with MnDOT for the Safe Walk To School
Grant for the Lake Elmo Elementary School.
