Home My WebLink About#07 - Massage Therapy LicenseSTAFF REPORT DATE: January 5, 2021 CONSENT AGENDA ITEM: Approve Massage Therapy License TO: Mayor and City Council SUBMITTED BY: Julie Johnson, City Clerk BACKGROUND: The City of Lake Elmo instituted a city license structure in December of 2012 in order to better regulate the practice of therapeutic massage in Lake Elmo. Licenses are subject to approval by the City Council. ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL: Should Council approve the requested license? PROPOSAL: The City has received a Massage Therapy Premises License application from Victor Letourneau for a new license to perform massage therapy at 3511 Lake Elmo Avenue, Suite 120. Mr. Letourneau also holds a license for massage therapy in the city of Woodbury. The appropriate fees have been paid and all required documentation has been provided, including training and insurance information. Washington County Sheriff’s Department is conducting a background check. FISCAL IMPACT: License application and background investigation fee of $100. OPTIONS: 1) Approve license 2) Deny license RECOMMENDATION: If removed from Consent Agenda: “Motion to approve massage therapy license for Victor Letourneau”
