AGENDA ITEM: Council School Liaison

BACKGROUND: In the past, the Council has designated a member to serve as liaison to the schools. The school liaison attends city school leadership meetings, events or works collaboratively with the schools on issues. The meetings are held on an as needed basis with the exception of the Mahtomedi School District which holds meetings four times a year during the school year. Their meetings are from 7:30am-9am at the Mahtomedi District offices. Remaining meetings for this school year are scheduled for Friday, January 22, 2021 and Friday, April 16, 2021.
Council Member Nelson had been appointed the school liaison in previous years. ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL: Which council members should be appointed school liaison for 2021? PROPOSAL/OPTIONS: The Mayor or any member of the council can be appointed school liaison.
RECOMMENDATION: “Motion to appoint as the school liaison.”
