ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL
Review month end activity update from fire department.
PROPOSAL DETAILS/ANALYSIS:
We had 34 calls in February:
19 Medicals
3 Structure Fire
(1) Lake Elmo, (1) Auto Aid to Bayport, (1) Mutual Aid to Grant
2 Dispatched and cancelled en route
3 Fire Alarms
3 Car accidents
1 Lift Assist
3 Smoke Investigation
34 Total
Our average response time was 10.9 minutes from alarm to arrival.
18 calls had 3 or less responders minus the Duty Officer.
2 calls had only 1 personnel on the first due apparatus.
15 calls this month had only shift personnel for responders.
Drills for the Month:
Department meetings through GoTo Meeting.
Online Training through Target Solutions.
Points of Interest:
- 2 new paid on call continue Fire Fighter I/II classes through Century College.
- COVID continues to be a significant risk to our small department and we continue to
follow CDC and MDH protocols for awareness and prevention. Both fire stations
continue to be closed to the public for the safety of the public and our personnel.
Signs have been posted at both stations.
- Our average response time increased slightly due to the long distance to the auto
aid and mutual aid incidents.
Part Timer Accomplishments:
- Cleaning and general maintenance at both stations.
- Vehicle and equipment inspections.
- Incident reporting.
- Assisted with Burn Permit applications.
- Vehicle repairs as possible.
- Increased decontamination of apparatus and stations.
- Continued training of new personnel.
