ITEM: Lowes Partnership Program / Carriage Station Shelter Project Update
SUBMITTED BY: Carol Kriegler, Project Assistant
SUMMARY
The city council authorized the hiring of Jerry Mazzara of Design Forum to do some conceptual schematic designs of park shelters at its June 17 meeting. The intent is that these schematic
designs will be used in guiding the Carriage Station picnic shelter project that is eligible for grant funding through the Lowes Partnership Program. A Carriage Station neighborhood
project meeting was held June 24 in an effort to solicit neighborhood input on the project. A report will be made regarding theneighborhood input that was received.
As a means to secure the Lowes grant, a very rough schematic design was created by Jerry and submitted by staff. The design was intended to generally define the scope of the project
and identify potential material costs. The city was at risk of losing the grant dollars by not submitting a plan generally defining the scope of the project. It is staffs understanding
that there is a continued opportunity to further refine and revise the project as long as the general scope does not change dramatically.
Staff suggests that a small working group be established for the purpose of providing input to Jerrry Mazzara so that progress can be made on this project in an expedient and efficient
manner and in keeping with the Lowes Partnership Program schedule.
REQUESTED ACTION:
Establish a small working group for the Carriage Station shelter project and schedule a working group meeting.
