BACKGROUND: The property owner receive an extremely high water bill which was due to an error on the meter reading. They didn’t pay the bill, expecting that it would be fixed, however the entire bill was then assessed with the 2021 taxes
ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL: Should the Council approve the abatement of assessments of $8,334.80 for PID 33.029.21.44.0029 PROPOSAL: Included in your packet is a resolution to remove the assessed amount and correct the billing error. FISCAL IMPACT: None since this was a billing error. RECOMMENDATION: If removed from the consent agenda:

WASHINGTON COUNTY STATE OF MINNESOTA RESOLUTION NO. 2021-052
A RESOLUTION RELATED TO 2021 ASSESSMENTS TO WASHINGTON COUNTY
WHEREAS, 8615.5 Eagle Point Boulevard had assessments certified to the property taxes in 2021 for a delinquent utility bill; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lake Elmo certified the utility bill for this property as the
owner claimed they did not receive a bill and has since paid us for the delinquent utilities. BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Lake Elmo, Minnesota, that the 2021 special assessment amount of $8,334.80 delinquent utility billing balance
certified to PID 33.029.21.44.0029 may be removed from the assessment roll due per the
attached Washington County abatement forms. APPROVED by the Lake Elmo City Council on this 4th day of May, 2021.
