Approve Pay Request No. 4 (FINAL) for Production Well No. 5

ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL: Should the City Council accept the improvements for Production Well #5,
and approve Compensating Change Order No. 1 and Pay Request No. 4 (Final)? BACKGROUND: Traut Companies was awarded a construction contract on January 21, 2020 to complete the Production Well No. 5. The work has been completed by the contractor including all punch list items. PROPOSAL DETAILS/ANALYSIS: Traut Companies has submitted a compensating change order to reconcile the estimated and actual quantities on the project. The compensating change order will decrease the final construction contract amount to $348,612.00 (a decrease from the original contract by $1,168.00). Traut Companies has also submitted Partial Pay Request No. 4 (Final) in the amount of $101,766.85 which includes release of all retainage. The contractor’s work has been reviewed by the Project Engineer and is
fully completed in accordance with the Contract, Specifications, and Change Orders. The Project Engineer has prepared a Certificate of Completion indicating that all work is completed including all punch list items and is recommending acceptance of the improvements and release of final retainage.
FISCAL IMPACT: The final total project cost is $516,400, including a construction cost of $348,612, which is slightly under the original authorized budget and construction contract award of $534,200 and
$349,780 respectively. RECOMMENDATION: Staff is recommending that the City Council, as part of the Consent Agenda, accept the improvements, approve Compensating Change Order No. 1 and approve Pay Request No. 4 (FINAL) for Production Well #5. If removed from the consent agenda, the recommended motion for the action is as follows: “Move to accept the improvements, approve Compensating Change Order No. 1 thereby decreasing the contract amount by $1,168.00, and approve Pay Request No. 4 (FINAL) to Traut Companies in the
amount of $101,766.85 for the Production Well #5 project”. ATTACHMENTS: 1. Compensating Change Order. No. 1.
