CONSENT

ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL:
City Council is asked to review and accept, as part of Consent Agenda, a brief description of activities
that have taken place in the Public Works Department in the month of May 2021.
PROPOSAL DETAILS/ANALYSIS:
STREETS
• Continue pot hole repair
• The Heritage, Old Village and Hamlet street/utility projects continue
• 50th and 51st street mill overlays are being completed
• Added a gravel overlay to Klondike Ave off 32nd st.
• Cleared downed trees after storm events
• Improve Jamaica/Lake Jane intersection signage
WATER
• Complete monthly MDH bacteria, fluoride, Lead/copper sampling and submit well
water draw down reports
• Complete spring hydrant flushing
• Continue working on Risk and Resilience Plan
SURFACE WATER
• Regraded Demontreville ditch
PARKS
• Public Works Association Members volunteered their time to spread safety
playground chips in Tana Park and Carriage Station Park as a community project
• Removed two failed slides in the 30 year old Pebble Park Playground
• Re-installed the Tana Park Sign. Staff reduced the existing size of the sign and
repainted it
• GIS intern started, projects include updating maps for trails, mowing, hydrants, curb
stops and street signs. The City website will be updated to present the cities trail
system yet this summer
SAFETY COMMITTIEE
• Completed quarterly safety inspections of city facilities. Review all department
safety concerns and any incident/accidents
LABOR MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
• Discussed Public Works staff concerns
RECOMMENDATION:
Base on the activities listed above, City Council is respectfully asked to accept the May 2021 Public
Works Report.
