ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL
Review month end activity update from fire department.
PROPOSAL DETAILS/ANALYSIS:
Incidents through May 2021: 207 (2020 YTD: 217):
We had 49 calls in May.
29 Medical Incidents
8 Dispatched and Cancelled En Route
5 Motor Vehicle Accidents
2 Gas Leaks
2 Fire / Carbon Monoxide Alarms
1 Structure Fire
1 Motor Vehicle Accident with Extrication
1 Incident Unfounded
49 Total
Our average response time was 9.3 minutes from alarm to arrival. 29 calls had 3 or less
responders minus the Duty Officer with 6 calls having only 1 personnel on the first due
apparatus.
Drills for the Month:
#1 – Tender Operations
#2 – Quarterly EMS Training by Regions EMS Education
Points of Interest:
- 2 paid-on-call personnel successfully completed their initial Firefighter I/II training and
state certification.
- A large-loss structure fire occurred on Friday, May 7th at approximately 3:20 am. No
injuries reported, home was a total loss. The department received auto-aid from
Stillwater and Bayport Fire Departments.
- Continued staffing challenges with several personnel balancing the PT or POC hours and
their personal and professional responsibilities.
Part Time Staff Accomplishments:
- Cleaning and general maintenance at both stations.
- Vehicle and equipment inspections.
- Assisted with Burn Permit applications.
- Vehicle repairs as possible.
- Increased decontamination of apparatus and stations.
- Training of new personnel.
