AGENDA ITEM: Sale of Excess and Retired Equipment & Acquired Property

BACKGROUND: With the acquisition of new equipment, excess equipment, other equipment that has reached the end of its useful life, Public Works has a surplus of assets that is no longer operational or needed to conduct city services.
ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL: Should the City Council authorize staff to publicly advertise and sell excess and retired city equipment and assets consistent with the City’s Purchasing Policy?
FISCAL IMPACT: Revenue generated by the sale of this equipment will be added to the Vehicle Replacement Fund and the General Fund. Below is a list of surplus items and the anticipated sale price.
2009 Dodge 5500 hook truck w/plow $25,000
Skid steer mounted snow plow $1000
10 Ton Floor Jack $0
Well Sounder $10
Chemical injection pump $10
Set of 4 rims and tires $25
425 gallon poly tank $100
OPTIONS:
• Approve sale of Excess and Retired Equipment
• Deny sale of Excess and Retired Equipment
• Discuss and amend the sale of Excess and Retired Equipment RECOMMENDATION:
“Motion to approve the sale of Excess and Retired Equipment as detailed in the City’s Purchasing Policy”
