AGENDA ITEM: Hiring Paid on Call Firefighter REVIEWED BY: Dustin Kalis, Fire Chief
BACKGROUND: Earlier this summer we advertised for paid on call fire fighters. Interviews were completed in September as well as some physical agility testing. At this point we are ready to make conditional job offers to 7 applicants.
ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL: Should the Council make a conditional job offer to Alex Beard, Adam Lembrich, Matthew Watt, Brian
Chapman, Issaih Allickson, Carley Townsend, and Justin Inman?
PROPOSAL DETAILS/ANALYSIS: Upon approval, a conditional job offer will be made contingent upon Background Screening, Preplacement Medical Examination with Drug Screening, Psychological Evaluation and Abilities Test. Upon meeting
those conditions the applicants will be placed on the department as a Probationary Firefighter.
FISCAL IMPACT: Preplacement Medical Examination with Drug Screening is approximately $198 each. Phsyc test is $440 each.
Future costs of training, uniforms and wages.
OPTIONS: 1) Make conditional job offer to continue with process. 2) Do not approve conditional job offer RECOMMENDATION: If removed from consent agenda: “Move to approve conditional job offer to Alex Beard, Adam Lembrich, Matthew Watt, Brian Chapman, Issaih Allickson, Carley Townsend, and Justin Inman.” ATTACHMENTS: None
