AGENDA ITEM: Approve Massage Therapy Premises Licenses TO: Mayor and City Council

BACKGROUND: The City of Lake Elmo instituted a city license structure in December of 2012 in order to better regulate the practice of therapeutic massage in Lake Elmo. Licenses are subject to approval by the City Council. ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL: Should Council approve the requested license?
PROPOSAL: The City has received two new Massage Therapy Premises License applications from Subtle Revolution Massage & Health and Body Wellness and Beyond at 8617 Eagle Pt. Blvd. for a new license to operate a massage therapy. The appropriate fees have been paid and all required documentation has been provided, including training and insurance information. Each premises permit includes one massage therapist; additional licenses would be required if another
massage therapist is added in the future. Washington County Sheriff’s Department is conducting a background check. FISCAL IMPACT: License application fee of $100 each. OPTIONS: 1) Approve licenses 2) Deny licenses
RECOMMENDATION: If removed from Consent Agenda:
“Motion to approve massage therapy premises license for Subtle Revolution Massage
& Health and Body Wellness and Beyond.”
