HomeMy WebLinkAbout#04 - Massage Therapy Premises PermitSTAFF REPORT DATE: August 15, 2023 CONSENT AGENDA ITEM: Approve Massage Therapy Premises License TO: Mayor and City Council SUBMITTED BY: Julie Johnson, City Clerk BACKGROUND: The City of Lake Elmo instituted a city license structure in December of 2012 in order to better regulate the practice of therapeutic massage in Lake Elmo. Licenses are subject to approval by the City Council. ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL: Should Council approve the requested license? PROPOSAL: The City has received a Massage Therapy Premises License application from Dr. Gregory Bernard for a new license to operate a massage therapy business at 11200 Stillwater Blvd., Suite 101, under the name Renewed Bodywork, LLC. The appropriate fees have been paid and all required documentation has been provided, including training and insurance information. The premises permit includes one massage therapist (Jacob Hagen); additional licenses would be required if another massage therapist is added in the future. Washington County Sheriff’s Department is conducting a background check. FISCAL IMPACT: License application fee of $200. OPTIONS: 1) Approve license 2) Deny license RECOMMENDATION: If removed from Consent Agenda: “Motion to approve massage therapy premises license for Jacob Hagen dba Renewed Bodywork, LLC.”
