AGENDA ITEM: Approve Massage Therapist License TO: Mayor and City Council

BACKGROUND: The City of Lake Elmo instituted a city license structure in December of 2012 in order to better regulate the practice of therapeutic massage in Lake Elmo. Licenses are subject to approval by the City Council. ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL: Should Council approve the requested license?
PROPOSAL: The City has received a Massage Therapist License application from Srae Bear Sims for a new license to perform massage therapy at 8530 Eagle Point Blvd, under the premises permit issued to Bridget Relander Massage. The appropriate fees have been paid and all required documentation has been provided, including training and insurance information. Washington County Sheriff’s Department is conducting a background check.
FISCAL IMPACT: License application fee of $100.
OPTIONS: 1) Approve license
2) Deny license RECOMMENDATION: If removed from Consent Agenda: “Motion to approve massage therapist license for Srae Bear Sims.”
