AGENDA ITEM: Hire Paid on Call Firefighters

BACKGROUND: In August, we advertised for paid on call firefighters. We held the posting open through October so it
would be open during the open house for the City Center in an attempt to get more candidates. Interviews were completed in November, and we made conditional offers to five (5) applicants.
ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL: Should Nicholas Rosenberg, Jordan Thone, Anthony Rivera Vazqueztell, Andrew Lilly, and Joshua Montgomery be hired as paid on call Firefighters at the terms described below?
PROPOSAL DETAILS/ANALYSIS: Upon approval, a start date will be determined contingent upon Background Screening, Drug Screening, Psychological Evaluation and Abilities Test. Upon meeting those conditions the applicant will be placed on the department as a Probationary Firefighter. FISCAL IMPACT: The cost of pre-employment screening and wages for paid on call firefighters has been included in the 2024
budget. OPTIONS: 1. Hire the above individuals as paid on call firefighters. 2. Re-advertise the position. RECOMMENDATION: If removed from the consent agenda:
Motion to hire Nicholas Rosenberg, Jordan Thone, Anthony Rivera Vazqueztell, Andrew Lilly, and Joshua Montgomery as paid on call firefighters. ATTACHMENTS: None
