Home My WebLink About#06 - Public Works Pickup Truck Purchase STAFF REPORT DATE: 2/6/2024 CONSENT TO: City Council FROM: Marty Powers, Public Works Director AGENDA ITEM: Pickup Purchase REVIEWED BY: Clarissa Hadler, Finance Director BACKGROUND: The City of Lake Elmo Public Works Department utilizes a 2014 Ford F250 throughout the city to assist with projects related to parks, water, sewer, storm water and streets. The existing 2014 F250 is in service and has met its council approved 10-year replacement schedule. Replacing the 2014 F250 with the proposed 2024 F250 with service/utility body will be more user friendly & efficient for the tasks it will be completing. ISSUE BEFORE CITY COUNCIL: Should the Council approve the purchase of a 2024 Ford F250 pickup truck with service body as outlined in the Capital Improvement Plan? PROPOSAL DETAILS/ANALYSIS: Proceeding with this purchase will benefit the city and its citizens by replacing an aged vehicle. This vehicle will allow staff more organized tool storage, reliability and efficiency. FISCAL IMPACT: Purchase of this vehicle outfitted with service body, warning lights, decals and assortment of small tools will exceed the budgeted $60,000 due to increasing truck chassis prices and will be funded through the vehicle replacement fund as identified in the proposed 2024 CIP.
