I-94 Oakdale to St. Croix River Current Lane Closures Tue, Oct. 25 through Sat, Nov. 12; 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily Monday-Saturday EB I-94 is reduced to two lanes between Woodbury Dr. and the St. Croix River Bridge Tue, Oct. 25 through Sat, Nov. 12; 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily Monday-Saturday WB I-94 is reduced to two lanes between the St. Croix River Bridge and Woodbury Dr. Tree removal will begin soon in preparation for the construction of noise walls in the project area. Work in Lake Elmo will take place on the north side of I-94 Near Keats Avenue and the Springs of Lake Elmo development. The Brookfield building at 3880 Laverne Avenue is closed and under construction. View some of the lessons learned in one of Barbara’s latest blog entries: ‘You’ve been educated!’ Lessons learned from a summer of environmental education October updates: · Shoreline Realtor Workshop: Barbara has been working with partners to submit materials for a lakeshore realtor workshop in late winter. Partnering with the St. Paul Area Association of Realtors, the course will feature speakers from the Minnesota DNR, BWSR, Isanti SWCD, Chisago County, and the Chisago Lakes Lake Improvement District. Topics will cover the MN Shoreland Management Program, the Wetland Conservation Act, an introduction to ‘intermediary’ local government units like watershed districts and LIDs, providing insight on how realtors can help potential shoreline owners choose property that fits their wants while being aware of constraints, and the importance and best how-tos to protect lake and river health. Date and location will be announced later this year. · Enhanced Street Sweeping Projects: At tomorrow’s Lower St. Croix steering committee, the group will review applications for enhanced street sweeping projects in: Afton, Lake Elmo, Middle St. Croix WMO communities, Marine on St. Croix, Scandia, Wyoming, Linwood Twp., Rush City, and North Branch. · Ordinance Review: Barbara has been working with the Chisago SWCD, WCD, and Carnelian-Marine-St. Croix Watershed District to identify communities that may be interested in an ordinance review process with the goal of adopting best stormwater management practices. · Wisconsin Farmer-Led Watershed Councils: Jennifer, Barbara, and other conservation staff met with members of the Wisconsin Farmer-Led Watershed Councils to discuss current initiatives and potential future collaboration opportunities. · Non-structural ag projects: Jennifer completed conservation planning for 8 cover crop plans, 8 reduced and no-till farming plans, and one nutrient management plan. Business Retention and Expansion Program The Lake Elmo Economic Development Authority (LEEDA) will be kicking off a Business Retention and Expansion Program in March. LEEDA members will be reaching out to schedule visits with members of our business community to learn more about their business, what’s going well, what could be done differently and how LEEDA can help them continue to grow and prosper in Lake Elmo. With around 300 businesses in Lake Elmo and only 6 LEEDA commissioners, this campaign will take many months and likely continue into 2023. Commissioners are now beginning to reach out to businesses south of 10th Street between Inwood Avenue and Keats Avenue. Work also continued on the northwest side of the building with installation of additional concrete wall panels. The addition to the Public Works building is also underway with completion of the foundation and some of the concrete block wall.
