The City of Lake Elmo is Seeking Applicants for Multiple Committees The City of Lake Elmo is seeking interested residents to serve on the following: - EDA - Planning Commission - Parks Commission - Capital Improvement Committee More Information Available Here TRAFFIC CHANGE The new traffic signal at County Highway 15 (Manning Avenue) and 30th Street in the City of Lake Elmo - Government is now fully operational. MDEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION 1-94 to St. Croix Notice of tree removal in your area The Minnesota C .. of Transportation's contractor will be in your area sometime between November 1, 2022 and January 31, 2023 to remove trees and shrubs within MnDOT right of way in preparation for the construction of noise walls within the project area. Trees and shrubs have already been marked in the area for removal. The _ . _ _. r will not be removing any vegetation on private property. The work will be done during daytime hours and is anticipated to take a few weeks to complete. Noise wall construction on the south side of 1-94 near Battle Creek Lake and on the north side of 1-94 near Keats Avenue is anticipated to occur in 2024 as part of the I-94 to St. Croix construction project (see map below). Tree removal occurs in advance of construction during the winter months in accordance with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service regulations and the Federal Bat Protection Act. Thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation while we complete our work. Legend: Noise Wall Locations 1-94 to St. Croix Project Area • N `20; W NW M uwox About the 1-94 to St. Croix Construction Project 1-94 between Highway 120/Century Avenue and the St. Croix River is undergoing a two -and -a -half -year pavement improvement construction project that began in July 2022. The work will improve safety, traffic flow and ride smoothness. All City Services are available at City Hall, 3800 Laverne Avenue Please drive slowly and watch for construction activity Street and Utility Project Updates Updates on current city street and utility projects are available on the City's website: Projects Winter reminders from the Lake Elmo Public Works Department Please keep the following in mind this snow plowing season: • Place trash receptacles at the end of your driveway, not in the roadway • Vehicles should not be left parked on the street during snowfalls • Depending on the amount of snowfall, streets may be plowed several times • Mail boxes damaged during snow removal will be evaluated case by case. If it is damaged by City equipment, public works will install a temporary post and will install a permanent post in the spring • Plowing snow across roadways is unlawful and against State Law. Accidents and damages caused by snow piles left in the roadway may result in liability to the property owner. • Help shovel out fire hydrants near your homes. Keeping hydrants clear of snow can substantially reduce the time it takes firefighters to put out a fire. • According to City Ordinances, homeowners are responsible for removing all snow and ice from public side- walks in front of their homes within (48) hours after a snowfall. Failure to do so could result in injury to the public as well as a violation of City ordinances THE CITY OF LAKE ELMO How will Lake Elmo change in 50 years? Part of the construction of the Lake Elmo City Center is a time capsule project. We're inviting residents to share their predictions for Lake Elmo in the next 50 years. Dave Crawford will use photos, mostly taken 100 to 150 years ago, to tell the story, with a focus on the St. Croix River watershed, the heart of white pine logging in the Midwest. LEEDA members will be reaching out to schedule visits with members of our business community to learn more about their business, what's going well, what could be done differently and how LEEDA can help them continue to grow and prosper in Lake Elmo. With around 300 businesses in Lake Elmo and only 6 LEEDA commissioners, this campaign will take many months and likely continue into 2023. Commissioners are now beginning to reach out to businesses south of 10th Street between Inwood Avenue and Keats Avenue. Public Facilities Project Update Work on the interior office spaces moved ahead this week in anticipation of drywall installation next week. Crews also put the finishing touches on preparation for the fire station bay concrete floors to be poured. Additional information is available on the City's Citv Center CITY OF LAKE ELMO COMBINED CITY HALL & PUBLIC SAFETY FACILITY The new Lake Elmo City Hall / Public Safety Facility combines City Hall staff and functions, the entire Fire Department. and a satellite office for the Washington County Sheriff's department. This co -location involves renovating and expanding the City -owned Brookfield Office building to concentrate civic resources into a single structure at the historic core of the city.
