Join us on Nextdoor Visit our website Water Rebate Program The City of Lake Elmo, in partnership with the Metropolitan Council, is offering a rebate program for purchases of eligible water efficient products. The goal of the water efficiency grant program is to improve municipal water use. This funding has enabled Lake Elmo to provide a rebate to current water customers who replace existing devices with specified water efficient products. Qualifying purchases are eligible for a rebate on your water bill. More information is available on the City's website via the link below. Rebate Court Improvement Projects Court improvement projects are underway! At Tabyln Park, the two tennis court surfaces will be completely removed and replaced with new playing surfaces. The courts will be striped to accommodate one tennis court and four pickle ball courts. At Pebble Park, the tennis courts will also be completely renovated and the new surface will be striped to accommodate one tennis court and six pickle ball courts. Both locations will also see additional updated amenities to include paved trail access, a rebounding wall and benches. The lighting will also be updated to LED with new control boxes that will provide a significant cost savings on electricity. Work is expected to be complete in October 2023. City Hall Temporary Access Beginning Monday, June 12th, the City Hall parking lot will be closed for paving. If you are coming to City Hall, please park on Laverne Avenue and use the temporary sidewalk to access the building. Park and Court Reservations Spring is here and we are in high gear with park reservations. Park Calendars Compost Bin and Rain Barrel SaleCompost Bin and Rain Barrel Sale Washington County is excited to partner with the Recycling Association of Minnesota to sell discounted compost bins and rain barrels to Washington County residents. Home Composter compost bins are $56 and Rain Catcher rain barrels are $70. Pre-ordered items must be picked-up at the Environmental Center within 90 days of purchase. Order online Reduce-Reuse-Recycle! It is that time of year again when we start thinking about spring cleaning. Are you sure about what is trash and what can be recycled, and where to take it? Washington County has a new interactive disposal directory located here: Disposal Directory Try it out! It is a great tool for identifying what and where you can donate, recycle, or dispose of unwanted items. Reminder: No grass clippings in the street! Did you know that grass clippings contain high amounts of nutrients like nitrogen and phosphorus? When it rains, clippings left in the street get washed into storm sewers that lead to ponds, lakes, rivers and streams. There, the nutrients promote algae growth which makes the water stinky, green, and sometimes toxic. Clippings can also clog storm drains, increasing the risk of street flooding. Here’s a simple trick to solve the problem. Turn your mower so the clippings blow into the lawn instead of the street when you’re mowing close to the road! The clippings will break- down naturally and provide free fertilizer for your lawn, saving you time and money. You can also bag and compost your clippings to fertilize your gardens in the future. Cleaner streets = cleaner water. Do your part to keep the green on our lawns and out of our water! The City of Lake Elmo has begun participation in the State of Minnesota's Performance Measurement Program. This program began in 2010 for cities and counties to report on at least 10 performance measures annually as a way to aid residents, taxpayers, and state and local elected officials in determining the efficacy of counties and cities in providing services and measure residents' opinions of those services. All City Services are available at City Hall, 3800 Laverne Avenue Please drive slowly and watch for construction activity Public Facilities Project Update This week the west side of the building was paved and crews worked on grading for landscape installation. The city logo was installed in the Council Chambers and work was started on installation of audio/visual equipment.
