BACKGROUND:
Pebble Park play set was originally installed in 1992 and has exceeded its lifespan. At the
December 2023 Parks Commission meeting, commissioners elected to move forward with
planning and design of a new play set at Pebble Park. Recommendations for Pebble Park were to
design a park to serve kids ages 5-12 years of age, incorporate a climbing structure with slides,
add additional benches or seating and incorporate a concrete boarder around the play area.
Three options were presented to the Parks Commission on 3/18/2024 with all commissioners
voting in favor of option 3. Commissioners recommended option three be consistent with the other
options by providing additional seating as part of the construction.
ISSUE BEFORE CITY COUNCIL:
Would City Council like to approve one of the playset options to be constructed at Pebble Park?
PROPOSAL DETAILS/ANALYSIS:
Flagship Recreation has provided three options for a playset which incorporate the recommendations
made by the Park Commission.
Option 1: Offers a multiple tower structure with three slides and climbing cargo net. This area is
approximately 30x20 and will include seating areas. Total equipment cost for this project is $98,763 with
a total install price of $119,949.
Option 2: Offers a multiple tower structure with two slides and a separate Eclipse climbing net structure.
This are is approximately 45x40, includes seating areas and a Curva Spinner as an additional play option.
Total equipment cost for this project is $97,427 with a total install price of $119,945.
Option 3: A new Volo Product offered by Flagship Recreation. This structure offers two slides, interior
cargo net area, an interactive route map and 4 seat seesaw. This area is approximately 40x40 and will
include seating areas. Total equipment cost for this project is $92,672 with a total install price of
$119,194.
Flagship updated the concept of Option 3 since being presented to the Parks Commission to include
seating. The updated price of the project is $121,000
FISCAL IMPACT:
Fiscal impacts are outlined in the 2024-2033 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). CIP items are
funded though the Parks Dedication Fund while Operations and Maintenance items are funded
through the Public Works Budget. The current CIP has $125,000 toward the playset.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the following motion:
“Move to purchase and install a new playground set at Pebble Park and to recommend
Option “___” not to exceed $121,000.
