AGENDA ITEM: Approve Rate for Cable Casters
BACKGROUND: The City of Lake Elmo has contracted with two individuals who provide
videographer skills and cable casting services for our broadcasted meetings. They have been with the city
for two years. One is currently on a leave of absence, and the other is moving out of state and has given
his resignation. We need to advertise for this position and enter into a new contract for an additional
cable caster.
ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL:
Should the Council approve the new cable caster meeting rate of $65?
PROPOSAL DETAILS/ANALYSIS:
Staff is seeking Council approval to increase the meeting rate offered to cable casters.
In researching our meeting rates we are behind other cities in competitive pay. Currently, we pay $55 per
meeting for up to 3 hours and $25 per hour for anything over 3 hours. We want to increase our meeting
rate to $65 to remain competitive.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This amount is still covered by the grant we receive to cover cable caster wages.
OPTIONS:
1) Approve the cable caster meeting rate of $65.
2) Do not approve the cable caster meeting rate of $65.
RECOMMENDATION:
If removed from the consent agenda:
“Motion to approve the cable caster meeting rate of $65.”
