BACKGROUND:
State statute requires that cities accept donations via resolution.
ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL:
Should Council accept the donation of $2,500?
PROPOSAL:
CenterPoint Energy, through their Community Safety Grant program, has awarded the Lake Elmo
Fire Department $2,500 towards the purchase a FAST Rescue Board. Included in your packet for
acceptance as part of the Consent Agenda is a resolution for the Council to officially accept the
donation.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no impact to the 2024 budget as these funds were not anticipated.

1) Approve Resolution No 2024-077
2) Amend and then Approve Resolution No 2024-077
3) Do not accept the donation

RESOLUTION NO. 2024-077
A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING DONATED FUNDS FROM
CENTERPOINT ENERGY
WHEREAS, Minnesota Statues Section 465.03 provides that donations to the City
be accepted by resolution of the City Council; and
WHEREAS, CenterPoint Energy has proposed contributing $2,500 to the City of
Lake Elmo for a FAST Rescue Board through their Community Safety Grant; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lake Elmo agrees that said
contribution would be of benefit to the citizens of Lake Elmo; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of
Lake Elmo, Minnesota, does hereby acknowledges and agrees to accept said donation of
$2,500 from CenterPoint Energy on behalf of the citizens of Lake Elmo.
