AGENDA ITEM: Accept Resignation and Authorize Advertising for Public Works Director

BACKGROUND:
Rob Weldon, Public Works Director, submitted his resignation on February 6, 2019. His last
day of employment will be February 27, 2019.
ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL:
Does Council accept Rob Weldon resignation, and authorize advertising for Public Works Director?
PROPOSAL:
Included in the packet is the proposed job description that was created by David Drown and Associates
(DDA) during the recent job classification and compensation study. Based on the City’s recently adopted
compensation policy, the salary range for a Public Works Director would between $84,760 and $110,177
annually. Staff plans to advertise at the full range.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The estimated annual fiscal impact is $112,600-$141,870 including salary, taxes, and benefits. The cost
would be split 55% streets, 20% parks, 10% water, 10% sewer, and 5% storm water.
RECOMMENDATION:
“Move to accept the resignation of Rob Weldon and authorize advertising for public works director.”
