<br /> STAFF REPORT <br />DATE: August 6, 2025 <br /> CONSENT <br /> <br />TO: Mayor and Councilmembers <br />FROM: City Clerk Julie Johnson <br />AGENDA ITEM: Approve Special Event Permit for Inwood Neighborhood Social Group <br /> <br /> <br />CORE STRATEGIES: <br /> ☒ Vibrant, inclusive, connected community ☐ Efficient, reliable, innovative services ☐ Responsive, transparent, adaptive governance ☐ Balanced Finances now and future ☐ Managed Growth ☐ Resilient Infrastructure <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Inwood Neighborhood Social Group is requesting a permit for a three hour event on August 30th with <br />a proposed road closure on 9th Street North from Island Trail to the end of the street. <br />ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL: <br />Should the Council approve the special event permit for the Inwood Neighborhood Social Group? <br /> <br />PROPOSAL: <br />The event is expected to draw approximately 110 to 125 attendees during the event scheduled for 10:00 <br />a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 30th. A food truck serving breakfast will park on 9th Street North <br />and music will be played from a residential garage at 8740 9th Place North. Attendees will bring their <br />own chairs and trash receptacles will be provided by residents. <br />Staff has conducted a review of the application and recommend approval. Public Works staff will <br />provide barricades for the road closure. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />None <br /> <br />OPTIONS: <br />1) Approve the special event permit for Inwood Neighborhood Social Group as submitted <br />2) Approve the special event permit for Inwood Neighborhood Social Group with amendments <br />3) Do not approve the special event permit for Inwood Neighborhood Social Group <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br /> <br />“Move to approve the special event permit for Inwood Neighborhood Social Group on August 30, 2025” <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />Special Event Permit Application
