BACKGROUND:
Alzheimers Association is hosting A Ride to End ALZ in Minnesota and Wisconsin on August 24th.
Previously, this event started and ended in Maple Grove, but has moved to Stillwater and the surrounding
area this year. The ride will begin and end in Lowell Park in Stillwater.
ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL:
Should the Council approve the special event permit for The Ride to End ALZ?
PROPOSAL:
The proposed routes for the event are attached. This is a rules-of-the-road event and the organizers
anticipate approximately 400 participants across the four distances. No road closures are requested and no
traffic control is needed since it is a rules of the road event.
Staff has conducted a review of the application and recommend approval. Fire Chief Kalis will make his
staff aware of the event but no standby crew will be provided.

None
OPTIONS:
1) Approve the special event permit for A Ride to End ALZ as submitted
2) Approve the special event permit for A Ride to End ALZ with amendments
3) Do not approve the special event permit for A Ride to End ALZ
RECOMMENDATION:
“Move to approve the special event permit for A Ride to End ALZ on August 24, 2025”
