Beginning the week of Memorial Day and continuing through Labor Day, Lake Elmo City Hall’s business
hours will be:
Monday – Thursday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Friday 8:00 AM – Noon.
CITY BUSINESS
Lake Elmo Fire Department is Hiring Paid-On-Call
Firefighters
The Lake Elmo Fire Department is currently recruiting paid-on-call
firefighters! This is a great opportunity to serve our community of
Lake Elmo.
Our fire department is staffed with a combination of career and paid-
on-call firefighters. Paid-on-call firefighters play a vital role in
emergency response by working as part of our Duty Crew program,
which includes incident call-backs, training, and community events.
Our Duty Crew program involves shifts where we staff the station
with a paid-on-call firefighter to work alongside our career staff. This
enables our staff to schedule their time with the fire department,
providing a more consistent and predictable response to our
community.
Individuals with current Fire and EMT certifications are encouraged
to apply. No previous experience necessary, training is provided for
those willing to learn.

Old Village Garden Project update
The Connect Lake Elmo and Public Works teams for the Old Village
Garden Project have initiated the downtown gardening project.
Crews anticipate that all flowers, plants, and trees will be planted by
early next week.
The new City of Lake Elmo Website is coming soon!
SUMMER ROAD PROJECTS
Road Closure: Stillwater Way N From Little Bluestem
Trail North to East Stillwater Way
Road closure on Stillwater Way N. from Little Bluestem Trail North to
the east end of Stillwater Way N. During the road closure, cars may
use Stillwater Blvd. and Manning Avenue.
Washington County / Lake Elmo Summer Road
Projects
1) County Highway 13 (Inwood Ave) and County Highway 10 (10th
Street North) to County Highway 6 (Stillwater Blvd North).
2) County Highway 15 (Manning Avenue) Phase 3. County
Highway 15 (Manning Avenue) between County Highway 10 (10th
Street North) and 40th Street.
Washington County Road Projects
Crosswalk Installation Complete
The installation of crosswalks at the intersection of 39th Street and
Laverne Ave. N, as well as at 39th Street and Wildflower, are now
complete.
LAKE ELMO PARKS AND RECREATION
With over 500 acres of city parkland and more than 80 miles of trails, Lake Elmo features an extensive park
and trail system for residents and visitors to enjoy and explore. Our park and trail system provides a diverse
range of recreational opportunities, including organized sports, casual play, nature appreciation, hiking,
cross-country skiing, horseback riding, picnicking, relaxation, and many other outdoor activities.
Each park offers high-quality recreational facilities and open spaces for the community to enjoy while
preserving the history, setting, character, and unique features that make each park special. We are excited
to highlight one of Lake Elmo Park's parks each month, inviting our community to learn about and
appreciate the contributions of these parks to our growing and thriving community.
Carriage Station Park
Carriage Station Park offers a variety of activities for visitors to enjoy.
The playground features twisting slides, swings, and climbing areas.
The basketball court is an ideal place to start a pick-up game, or
bump, set, and spike on the volleyball court.

Kleis Park is Open!
We’re excited to announce that the upgrade of Kleis Park's
playground is now complete! New equipment has been installed to
create a more fun, safe, and inclusive play area for kids of all ages.

Playground Work Complete at Pebble Park and
Demontreville Park
Demontreville Park and Pebble Park have undergone some updates
and are open for the summer.
Trails at these two parks will be paved and ADA accessible in the
coming weeks.
LIFE IN LAKE ELMO
Lake Elmo Farmer's Market Opens June 7
Vendors are preparing for the 2025 Lake Elmo Farmer's Market
season, which opens Saturday, June 7, at 9:00 a.m. in the Lake
Elmo Elementary parking lot.
Lake Elmo Park Reserve Swim Pond Opens June 7
The swim pond will officially open for the season on June 7!
This year, families have even more reason to visit. Work will soon be
complete on the addition of a brand-new kids' play area, designed for
fun, imagination, and plenty of smiles. Whether you’re cooling off in
the water or enjoying nature in the park, there’s something for
everyone to enjoy.

Camp season begins next week! Check out our first Wonder
Wednesday session, “Prairie Day,” on June 11. Our one-day, fun-
filled, Wonder Wednesdays let kids explore the beautiful outdoor
setting and learn about their surrounding environment. It is run by
experienced instructors and the days include interpretive education,
games, crafts to bring home, free play and hikes.
This session is for campers aged 7 – 10
Campers will learn the importance of the prairies and all the
critters that depend on it.
They will adventure through the tallgrass and along the way
will learn about the important plants that make up a prairie.
Wonder Wednesday sessions are from 9 a.m.
Cost: $100 per camper, per session.

REMINDER: NEW TIME FOR LAKE ELMO KIDS 4th OF
JULY PARADE
Mark your calendars for this time change! This year, the Lake Elmo
4th of July Parade will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 4th, 2025.
This year's parade marks the 37th anniversary of the Lake Elmo Kids
4th of July Parade. The parade began with a handful of children
marching up Lake Elmo Avenue to celebrate our independence and
has since expanded to include over 1,000 kids of all ages.
Connect Lake Elmo is proud to uphold this special tradition in
collaboration with the Lake Elmo Rotary, the City of Lake Elmo, the
Lake Elmo Fire Department, the Washington County Sheriff's Office,
and other community members. We appreciate our partners who
work tirelessly to create a safe, meaningful, and enjoyable day for the
community.

Water Safety Reminders
As summer brings more time on the water, we want to remind
everyone to prioritize safety. Minnesota law requires children under
the age of 10 to wear a properly fitted life jacket while on a boat, and
the same law applies to anyone using canoes, kayaks, and jet skis.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office Water, Parks, and Trails
Unit will also be out, promoting outdoor safety. Licensed deputies
and specially trained reserves patrol rivers, lakes, and parks to
ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable time.
Watering Season and Irrigation
Lake Elmo City Watering Ordinance allows properties connected to
the city water system to irrigate twice a week, as indicated on the
city's irrigation zone map. Irrigation is restricted from 5:00 a.m. to
5:00 p.m. Hand watering is permitted at any time, and new sod
waivers are available if needed.
Using a smart irrigation controller device can further reduce your
water usage. For more information on watering restrictions, please
visit lakeelmo.gov.
No Small Plastic in Recycling Bins
Don't put small plastic items like straws, utensils, or loose caps in the
recycling. They can fall through the recycling equipment and end up
in the trash. Instead, keep caps on plastic bottles and aluminum tabs
attached to cans.

What Do My Taxes Pay For?
The City Council adopted the 2025 Tax Levy on December
17. City Finance staff have developed a downloadable property
tax calculator that estimates 2025 city taxes (no other
jurisdictions) on your home. It shows approximately how much
of your taxes are allocated to each service area.

New Utility Billing Payment Portal
We have moved to an intuitive new Utility Billing Portal called Paya.
Grab your City of Lake Elmo utility account number and proceed to Paya at the link below to register,
manage your account, set up autopay, or make payments.

Safe Drinking Water Meeting Replay is Available
The City of Lake Elmo, along with the Minnesota Pollution Control
Agency (MPCA) and Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), hosted
an informational meeting regarding PFAS, safe drinking water, and
private wells on July 25, 2024, where presentations were given by
MPCA, MDH, and Lake Elmo’s City Engineer as well as a question-
and-answer period for the participants.
