AGENDA ITEM: Boss V-plow Replacement

BACKGROUND: The City of Lake Elmo Public Works Department utilizes two boss V-Plows on
pickups for snow removal of city park and facility parking lots, over 90 cul de sacs, dead end streets, well
house and lift station driveways, along with some intersection clean up. One of the two 2017 V-plows is
in need of replacement due to maintenance issues, damage and excessive wear.
ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL: Should the City Council approve the purchase of a new Boss V-plow as
outlined in 2025 Public Works Budget?
PROPOSAL DETAILS/ANALYSIS: Proceeding with this purchase to replace an aged and failing piece
of equipment will benefit the city and its residents to improve reliability, reduce repair costs and ensure
expected service levels continue. A State Contract Cooperative Agreement Quote was collected from
Crysteel Truck and Equipment.
FISCAL IMPACT: Purchase of a 2025 Boss V-Plow shall not exceed the budgeted $11,000. This
purchase will be funded from the Public Works Operating Budget.
The approximate resale of the 2017 Boss V-Plow is estimated to be around $3,000 through Public Auction
OPTIONS:
• Approve purchase of 2025 Boss V-Plow and Declare the 2017 Boss V-Plow retired
equipment and dispose of through Public Auction.
• Amend and approve purchase of 2025 Boss V-Plow
• Deny purchase of 2025 Boss V-Plow
RECOMMENDATION: If removed from consent agenda…..
