STAFF REPORT <br />DATE: January 3, 2023 <br /> REGULAR <br /> <br /> <br />AGENDA ITEM: Council School Liaison <br />SUBMITTED BY: Kristina Handt, City Administrator <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br />In the past, the Council has designated a member to serve as liaison to the schools. The school liaison <br />attends city school leadership meetings, events or works collaboratively with the schools on issues. The <br />meetings are held on an as needed basis with the exception of the Mahtomedi School District which holds <br />meetings four times a year during the school year. Their meetings are from 7:30am-9am at the Mahtomedi <br />District offices. Remaining meetings for this school year are scheduled for Friday, January 20, 2023 and <br />Friday, March 31, 2023. <br /> <br />Council Member McGinn had been appointed the school liaison in previous years and she has indicated <br />she is willing to have someone else fill this role. <br /> <br />ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL: <br />Which council members should be appointed school liaison for 2023? <br /> <br />PROPOSAL/OPTIONS: <br />The Mayor or any member of the council can be appointed school liaison. <br /> <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />“Motion to appoint as the school liaison.” <br /> <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />• None
