STAFF REPORT <br />DATE: January 17, 2023 <br /> CONSENT <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />AGENDA ITEM: Hire Building Inspector <br />SUBMITTED BY: Kristina Handt, City Administrator <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Building Inspector position became vacant in November. The position was advertised and staff <br />completed interviews the first week in December. <br /> <br />ISSUE BEFORE COUNCIL: <br />Should Paul Schoenecker be hired as the Building Inspector at the terms described below? <br /> <br />PROPOSAL DETAILS/ANALYSIS: <br />Staff is recommending the Council hire Paul Schoenecker as Building Inspector. Staff is further <br />recommending a wage of $36.20/hour. <br /> <br />Schoenecker previously worked for the U of M and before that with the City of Woodbury for a couple <br />decades. Schoenecker would start with the city on January 23, 2023. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />The building inspector position has been included in the 2023 budget to accommodate this wage. <br /> <br />OPTIONS: <br />1) Hire Schoenecker as Building Inspector at the terms described above <br />2) Offer the job to Schoenecker under different terms <br />3) Offer position to another candidate <br />4) Re-advertise the position <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />If removed from the consent agenda: <br /> <br />Motion to hire Paul Schoenecker as a Building Inspector at a wage of $36.20 per hour. <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />None
